Dyslexia Tutoring

Not every child with dyslexia is ready for Orton-Gillingham tutoring. A few have more severe auditory processing issues.  For these students, we suggest these programs to improve their auditory discrimination and/or auditory memory prior to a Structured Literacy Course. 

The only research-based program that will work is LiPS (Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program for Reading, Spelling and Speech).  Foundation in Sounds is a very similar program written to seamlessly connect into the Barton program.   We are trained to tutor using both of these programs.

Up to 50% of students with dyslexia may struggle with the acquisition of math skills. Mastering of multiplication facts is a common difficulty as well as number sense skills. 

We use a combination of several math programs to support math learning and have been trained in the On Cloud Nine program by Lindamood Bell. 

We offer more than homework assistance; we build our students underlying weaknesses in understanding math principles.

​Many students with dyslexia benefit from handwriting instruction using the Handwriting Without Tears system. We are trained in this method and use it with our students.

If academic struggles are not a result of dyslexia, we can offer referrals to other professionals, private tutors and therapists who can help you. Our goal is to provide resources and services which cultivate academic growth and a love of learning.
